Avengers World #1

Avengers World #1
Let's see how this Avengers & S.H.I.E.L.D.
partnership works out.
Another Avengers title, or better yet, another Avengers title with Hickman as the writer. Similar cast to the Avengers series too. So what’s the difference? Well the title doesn’t lie, it’s Avengers World and all the action takes place on good ol’ Earth, home of the Avengers. Nice contrast to the cosmic adventures that have been taking place from the Infinity stories. Looks like Avengers will be handle those types of stories, New Avengers will deal with parallel-universe type of stories, and we can expect on-Earth stories from this series. Deanpool wants to mention that a new Fantastic Four series will be coming out soon with Hickman being the main writer for that one as well. He is going to be buuuuuusy. Turns out Captain America and the Avengers have made an agreement with S.H.I.E.L.D. and Maria Hill to work together. As mentioned above, same roster to work with but it’s nice to see them broken up in smaller teams. Each team takes on its own situation as they run into some pretty big issues from A.I.M. and the Hand. The issue still shows that this series can make a statement even with Earthbound threats. The art works well and has a good energy to it as it showcases many of Marvel’s heroes in one issue. Nick Spencer is a co-writer for this series and adds a voice that puts some attention on character interaction and comedy. Of course, with the variety of personalities that this Avengers cast has to offer, it’s nice to see as a reader. Wolverine, Hawkeye, Thor, Captain Marvel, and so on. It’ll be interesting to see if the different threats that the separate teams dealt with are somehow linked, or will it be a case of the Avengers spread too thin? Also how will the rocky relationship between the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. play into the big picture? Lots to look forward to in this series, but its success may depend on how it separates itself from the other Avengers titles.
Team One: Thor, Hyperion, Captain Marvel
Team Two: Falcon, Black Widow, Wolverine.
Shang-Chi not pictured.
Team Three: newcomers Starbrand and Nightmask join
Hawkeye and Spider-Woman.
Team Four: Cannonball and Sunspot discuss Star Trek
while Smasher gets the mission from Cap.
Deanpool liked the issue, but isn’t sure if he’ll continue on with the series. He may wait to hear about how it’s going before picking up the issues right away but still feels it earned a 8/10. It’s always fun seeing dynamic characters interact with each other with worldwide threats going on.
Where was Tony Stark in this issue?
