Batman-Superman movie bumped to 2016

NewsFlash time! Don't expect the World's Finest team-up of Batman & Superman next summer. Production has decided to bump the release date to May of 2016. Since 2006, Marvel has consistently premiered a movie in the early weeks of the month of May: Iron Man trilogy, Avengers, and Thor (just to name a few). It has even led to retailers having a "Free Comic Book Day" on the Saturday of that week. Now Warner Bros/DC will be looking to reap the benefits of this premier date and put up some competition against Marvel. It's unknown at the moment which Marvel movie may be premiering in May of 2016, but if WB/DC production is going to take an extra 10ish months to get this Man of Steel follow-up as close as perfect as it can, it'll be hard to predict which movie will gross more money after the early May release. This leaves fan speculating for another two years (even production has been pushed back) so no "leaked" photos or videos of Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, and Henry Cavill working behind the scenes. The long-awaited anticipation for these two heroes to share the big screen needs to wait a bit longer. It may not all be bad, would you rather have a forced production that focused on finishing to meet a release date OR a Batman/Superman movie done right with a better, well-thought out script? Think fans prefer the latter. Avengers 2 is still set to come out in 2015 if Marvel keeps to their schedule. Hope that'll keep Deanpool and the rest of the comic reading community happy enough until 2016. And hopefully the extra time is used to get the script right and deliver a movie worthy of starring these two heroes.
Looks like this match-up is postponed until 2016.
On the bright side, the previous release date in July that was reserved for a Batman & Superman movie is now occupied by a Peter Pan movie, Pan!
"The summer release corridor is also perfect for Joe Wright’s ambitious new Peter Pan adventure, reimagining the ageless story of the beloved and forever-young hero for audiences worldwide.”
Okay, Deanpool isn't excited for that at all actually. Just wanted to give everyone a heads-up for the slight substitution that might need to be made in your list of summer blockbusters that will come out in 2015. It'll feature Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard, so you can imagine Wolverine as a pirate instead? Also, Deanpool believes it'll be a re-imagining of Peter Pan and the origin of Captain Hook, if that interests anyone.

Another source mentioned the idea that since WB/DC are postponing production and the release date for this Batman v Superman movie, to take the time to fully come out with a Justice League movie. Big thumbs down from Deanpool. Deanpool understands that DC is racing to catch up with the giant superhero mash-ups that Marvel has put on the screen a la Avengers and soon to be Avengers 2: Age of Ultron. He also understands that Synder will have more time to work with the script and set up for a movie plot that can contain DC's best heroes on one screen. Add the rumors of The Rock to be casted as Cyborg and Josh Holloway to be Aquaman. But NO. Marvel did it right and introduced each of their key players one movie at a time. Yes, DC doesn't want to wait that long, but Deanpool feels at least one more movie is necessary to set up the purpose of this Justice League. The idea seemed fine before news of this delay. Batman and Superman meet for the first time on screen, share some ridiculous on-screen action scenes, show a cameo of Wonder Woman (which will bring forth the idea that the DC hero universe goes beyond just these 2 heroes), maybe end the movie with the feeling that there are bigger bad guys and bigger problems out there and Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman need to recruit more people to take on the world's problems. (Sorry for the run-on sentence, wanted to capture Deanpool's long string of thought). If the 2016 release just becomes a JLA movie, would it take too long to introduce all the characters involved, leaving one big action sequence at the end when they all come together? Deanpool thinks the audience needs at least one movie to get used to the whole Ben Affleck as Batman thing. But for now all we can hope for is that the script gets refined and makes the movie worth the wait. One that the fans will enjoy. A Batman/Superman movie is already gaining a lot of hype, making it a Justice League movie only adds to the high expectations of WB/DC's next movie.
Which JLA member makes the cut to be in movie's roster? Will we find out in 2016?
In other Justice Leauge-related news, for fans of the Justice League animated movies like Flashpoint Paradox and Doom, Justice League: War, the next animated movie from the series, is set to release on February 4. The last two movies have been fantastic and take on very interesting JLA stories. With this War movie rumored the mirror the first couple issues of DC's New 52 Justice League comic series, this movie is bound to meet the expectations set by the recent movies. Instead of dreading over the wait of this Superman/Batman movie, lookout for this one in the mean time!
Justice League: War set to come out February 4. Don't miss it!

And lastly here's a cuter picture of the League. Thanks for reading!
